Mr. Pertowski, the son of the late Louise Wnek Pertowski and the late Albert Pertowski, was born in Gbiska, Poland.  He came to the United States with his parents and his brother as a young child, where he spent most of his childhood and early adulthood in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  Mr. Pertowski moved to West Caldwell, New Jersey in 1965 where he resided until 2011.  He later settled in Frederick, Maryland in 2013.

Mr. Pertowski was a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology with both a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Engineering.  During his undergraduate years, Mr. Pertowski took up the sport of fencing, which obviously had a great influence on both of his daughters, as they followed his lead and fenced in college, as well.

Mr. Pertowski was employed as a manufacturing engineer for Kearfott/General Precision, followed by his work at BAE Systems, which provided navigation and communication systems for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Pertowski was very active in his parish community of Notre Dame Church in North Caldwell, New Jersey, serving as the Parish Council President and an usher for many years.  He was also known for his tireless efforts over the years, putting up the church’s stable at Christmas time.  Mr. Pertowski was a member of the Knights of Columbus,

Mr. Pertowski was very much a “people’s person”.  He would always ask about how you and other family members were doing and he had the uncanny ability to strike up a conversation with random people.  He delighted in visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and learning about what was happening in their lives.

Mr. Pertowski loved to travel and learn about people and how they lived.  He and his late wife, Anna, traveled throughout the United States, Europe and South America.  He also like to embark on  relaxing and exciting cruises.

Mr. Pertowski enjoyed golfing and he loved to play baseball and other outdoor sports – first with his girls and then with his grandchildren.  He was a longtime fan of the NY Giants football team.  In his spare time, Mr. Pertowski like to busy himself with working on projects in his home and to take care of the garden and the lawn.

Mr. Pertowski was predeceased by his wife of sixty-three years, Anna Redziniak Pertowski and his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Frances Pertowski.

He is survived by his two daughters, Carol A. Pertowski and Nancy Buschman and her husband, Douglas; his four grandchildren, Timothy Buschman and his wife, Sarah Henrickson, Matthew Buschman and his wife, Heather, Kathryn Vasel and her husband, Kevin and Stephen Buschman; his five great grandchildren, Ryan, Avery, Madelyn, Benjamin and Abigail and his five nieces and nephews, Albert Pertowski, Frank Pertowski and his partner, Anita, Mary Lou Mahoney and her husband, James, Karen Bertram and her husband, Walter and Ellen Harrold and her husband, Jeff.
