Luis Arroyo Obituary

Mr. Luis A. Arroyo, 55, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022, in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway, New Jersey.

On Tuesday, March 15th. from 7:00-9:00PM, family and friends are invited to the memorial visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden.  With respect to Luis’s wishes his cremation in Rosehill Crematory in Linden was private and the inurnment of his cremains in the family site in Puerto Rico will take place at a future date.  The family has asked that you please omit flowers and donations in Luis’s memory can be sent to the family care of his sister, Mrs. Grisel Goldman, 2483 West 16th. Street, Apartment 7K, Brooklyn, New York 11214.

Luis, the son of Maria Arocho Arroyo and the late Erasmo Arroyo, was born in Brooklyn, New York and he was raised in Puerto Rico.  Throughout his life Luis traveled back and forth between Puerto Rico and the mainland United States and he has been living in Linden, New Jersey since 2018.

Luis worked as a law clerk for IBM in Manhattan, New York, for a few years until 2020.  Prior to that he was employed in the same capacity for various law firms throughout New York City.

Luis was well known as an excellent cook and he enjoyed making traditional dishes for his family and friends alike, whether it was for a holiday gathering or an everyday sit down, hang out, get together day with friends.  He even joked that as a Major League Baseball fan of the New York Yankees, when he would gather with his buddies to watch the games, Luis often spent more time in the kitchen cooking for everyone.  Back in Puerto Rico, Luis had his own professional kitchen/restaurant where he specialized in home styled cooking that made everyone’s mouth water.  Music was another favorite of Luis’s – especially the vibe of the Salsa, so naturally dancing was also in his wheelhouse.  Aside from his numerous talents that kept Luis busy, - all these things would be pushed aside for his two boys:  they were the love of his life, and he would do anything for them!

In addition to his mother, Luis is survived by his two sons, Christian Arroyo and Gabriel Arroyo and his sister, Grisel Goldman and her husband, Eugene.

Luis was the shining light in the center of life for his family and he had a profusion of love for everyone in his circle.  He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten and we will continue to celebrate Luis for the impact he had on the many lives he touched.
