Katherine Ginyard

Mrs. Katherine Johnson Ginyard, 87, died Thursday, December 16, 2021, in the Atrium Post Acute Care of Park Ridge, New Jersey.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Thursday, December 23^rd. from 9:30-11:30AM.  During the visitation, there will be a sharing of memories as well as relatives and friends joining together in song.  At the conclusion of the visitation everyone will form the traditional procession to Rosehill Cemetery in Linden where the prayers of committal will precede Mrs. Ginyard’s burial in the family plot.

Mrs. Ginyard, the daughter of the late Alice Johnson and the late Lee Johnson, was born in Iaeger, West Virginia. 

Mrs. Ginyard was a self-employed housekeeper for many years.  Upon her retirement, she indulged in her love of arts and crafts and singing , especially hymns to her grandchildren.  On any given weekend, you could find Mrs. Ginyard playing pokeno with her sisters and perhaps indulging in some Schaefer beer.  She was a whiz at the game of Chinese Checkers and she indulged in the tactics and strategies of the classic card game, bid whist.  She thoroughly enjoyed going to the movies and was entertained by all the different genres.  When her children were younger, Mrs. Ginyard made sure to introduce them to the scary, thriller chiller movies. 

Predeceased by her husband, Robert Lee Ginyard, Mrs. Ginyard is survived by her daughter, Angela Alice Boatwright and her partner, John Gamble and her son, Robert Paul Ginyard and his partner, Lynette Blackwell; her six siblings, Idena, Clara-Mae, Senobia, Jo Ann, Fuzzy and Willy; her five grandchildren, Makeda Boatwright, Sneferu Boatwright and his wife, Shanika, Malik Thomas, Dejene Ginyard and Robert Ginyard, Jr. and her three great grandchildren, Naisenya, Nala and Sage.

The guiding light of this family has now found a new home with the Lord.  Mrs. Ginyard will be missed but will forever live on in the hearts of her beloved family.
