Mr. Jozef Urbanowicz, 78, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 31, 2021, in his Bridgewater home.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Sunday, November 7th. from 2:00-4:00PM. On Monday, November 8th. at 9:45AM, everyone will start to gather directly at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, 500 Route 22, Bridgewater, New Jersey, where a funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will precede Mr. Urbanowicz’s entombment in the family crypt in St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater, New Jersey.
Mr. Urbanowicz, the son of the late Janina Misluk Urbanowicz and the late Boleslaw Urbanowicz was born in Gdynia, Poland. He came to the United States in 1974 and he lived in Maplewood, New Jersey before settling in Bridgewater, New Jersey in 1996.
Mr. Urbanowicz worked in the engineering departments of the various area hospitals for over thirty-five years. He retired from Overlook Hospital in Summit in March of 2020, after being employed there for thirteen years.
In his spare time, Mr. Urbanowicz loved the activities of the great outdoors, including freshwater fishing, especially fly fishing and going to the beautiful parks, where he would walk with his wife or ride his bike. He also enjoyed traveling, whether it be flying off on a new adventure or taking a road trip to visit new sites and have new experiences in the different states. Soccer was his passion; in his younger years he played club ball and that progressed into watching all the international soccer games on the television. Of course, the teams from Poland were his favorites! Mr. Urbanowicz also dallied playing a bit of softball and he participated on the various teams when he worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Elizabeth.
Even with all these activities, there was nothing more important or better in the world for Mr. Urbanowicz than spending time with his family and friends. His family was his heart and soul and he loved them dearly.
Mr. Urbanowicz is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Grace Raczek Urbanowicz; his two sons, Jack Urbanowicz and Daniel Urbanowicz and his fiancé, Sara Russell; his daughter-in-law, Ewa Urbanowicz; his sister, Danuta Rosinski and his four grandchildren, Alex Urbanowicz, Christian Urbanowicz, Brendon Urbanowicz and Gianni Urbanowicz,
There is no doubt that Mr. Urbanowicz will be deeply missed and he will never be forgotten.
