Josephine "Josie" Banasiak Obituary

Mrs. Josephine “Josie” M. Pisarski Banasiak, 98, died Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in the Center for Hope Hospice, Peggy Colony House in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Sunday, December 5th. from 2:00-6:00PM.  On Monday, December 6th., at 9:30AM, everyone will start to gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will begin at 10:00AM, followed by the funeral mass to be offered in St. Joseph the Carpenter Roman Catholic Church in Roselle at 11:00AM.  The prayers of committal will precede Mrs. Banasiak’s burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.

Mrs. Banasiak, the daughter of the late Catherine Dub Pisarski and the late Michael Pisarski, was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  She moved to Roselle, New Jersey in 1952 where she and her late husband made a life for themselves and raised their family.  In 2017, Mrs. Banasiak went to reside with her daughter in Edison, New Jersey.

Mrs. Banasiak was a gifted artist/painter who started at a very young age to paint in oils.  This was her passion, her love, and her outlet for personal expression.  Her favorite theme were landscapes and Mrs. Banasiak was very fortunate to have sold a few of her works.  Music was another of Mrs. Banasiak's particular enjoyments, mostly in the classical genre and especially the works of Chopin.  Her other exceptional skills extended from sewing, in that she could make almost any article, to cooking, where she loved to concoct her special dishes for her family and friends.  In her younger days, Mrs. Banasiak’s green thumb was evident in the garden, and she worked wonders with all types of shrubbery.  She was known for her ability to grow azaleas and then produce them from root.  As for club membership, Mrs. Banasiak was a member of the Polish Cultural Foundation in Clark because her Polish heritage was so very important to her.

Predeceased by her husband, Chester E. Banasiak on April 2, 2014, Mrs. Banasiak is survived by her daughter, LuAnn Osborn and her husband, Charles; her two grandchildren, Dr. Scott C. Osborn and his wife, Lisa C. Osborn, and Danielle Osborn; her five great grandchildren, Charles J. Osborn, Matteo I. Osborn, Josiah F. Osborn, Kazimir M. Osborn and Jozie Osborn and her numerous nieces, nephews, and neighbors, old and new.

The Osborn Family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the caregivers at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains for their excellent attention given to Josie, especially her nurse Amy, her aid, Musu and Gina, who made sure everything that was needed was right there before the family even knew they needed it. Josie adored them all!

Mrs. Banasiak was the last of a long line of family members who worked hard, had a great devotion to her church and above all, loved her family beyond measure.  Josie will be deeply missed, but never forgotten because her legacy will always live on in the hearts and mind of her family.
