Helena, the daughter of the late Maria Sliwa Hospod and the late Jozef Hospod, was born on March 9, 1924 in Wysoka, Poland and she married her husband, Stanislaw Lobaza, on November 23, 1946.

While living under communist rule in Poland, Helena was dedicated to working tirelessly to find a better life for her family. She fell in love with the United States, the country where her father was born, the very first time she visited. It was this love of freedom, place, and opportunity that inspired her to apply for a green card and make immediate plans to move her husband, siblings and children to a new country.  They left a lovely home and a comfortable life behind to start anew. Helena and her beloved husband, Stanislaw bought a home in Linden, New Jersey where they spent the next fifty years, surrounded by their many Polish friends and loved ones.

Helena was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to her beautiful family.  A devout Catholic, Helena understood the value of hard work, ethical behavior, empathy, and education.  She instilled these values in her children and grandchildren and Helena insisted that they all attain a higher education. They all did.  Every one of her children and grandchildren forged success from the foundational building blocks that Helena so bravely laid for them.

Helena is survived by her husband of 73 years, Stanislaw Lobaza, her son Kazimierz Lobaza and his wife Zofia of Linden; her two daughters,  Zofia Babinski of Linden and Alina Porter of Manasquan; her six grandchildren, Robert (Narina) Babinski of NYC, Tom Babinski (Emilie St-Hilaire) of California, Agnieszka (Vahe) Antonian of North Caldwell NJ, Justyna (Piers) Wheeler of London,UK, Sylvia (Polydoros) Jablonski-Kampaktsis of NYC, and Paul (Amy) Jablonski of NYC and her seven great-grandchildren; Alex Antonian, Eric Antonian, Edward Babinski, Victoria Babinski, Otto Wheeler, Caspian Wheeler and Niko Kampaktsis.

Helena’s family already feels the void that she has left, and they will forever love her and keep her in their hearts.
