Gerard “Jerry” F. Stancheck

Mr. Gerard “Jerry” F. Stancheck, 69, died Sunday, February 24, 2019 in his home in Linden, New Jersey, surrounded by love.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Wednesday, February 27th. from 6:00-8:00PM.  On Thursday, February 28th. from 9:30-10:00AM, everyone will gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will be held at 10:00AM, presided over by the Reverend James G. Hayer from the St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church in Rahway, New Jersey.  The prayers of committal will precede his burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.

Jerry, the son of the late Elizabeth Kuba Stancheck and the late John Stancheck, was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  He lived there for many years before moving to Linden, New Jersey forty years ago.

Jerry’s work experience began with Carlin Container Corp., located first in Roselle, New Jersey and then in South Brunswick, New Jersey.  Carlin Container Corp. was acquired by Menasha Corp., still in South Brunswick, New Jersey, where Jerry continued to work for many years in the maintenance department.  Eventually Menasha Corp. became Tenneco, Inc., a paper packaging company, where Jerry became the maintenance manager for the building.  Jerry’s work history with these companies spanned thirty years before he left in 1994.  A few years later, Jerry became a project supervisor for Rich Picerno Builders and Giordano Contracting, both in Kenilworth, New Jersey.  He stayed with these companies for ten years until he retired five years ago.

Jerry was a graduate of the Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  Following high school, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and he served his county during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is predeceased by his step-son, Vincent M. Vito and his brother, John D. Stancheck. 

Jerry is survived by his wife of thirty-two years; Carol A. Battaglia Stancheck; his step-son, Joseph J. Vito and his wife, Wendy; his brother, Ronald “Butch” Stancheck; his two sisters, Bernadette Patrick and Jean Androlowicz; his two grandchildren, Victoria Rose Vito and Justin Procopio and several nieces and nephews.
