George Nikitiadis Obituary

Mr. George J. Nikitiadis, 69, died Sunday, March 1, 2020 in the Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Thursday, March 5th. from 4:00-8:00PM.   In lieu of flowers, please make donations in George’s memory to a charity of your choice.

George, the son of the late Foteini Gergatsoulis Nikitiadis and the late John Nikitiadis, was born in Port-Gentil, Gabon, Africa.  At the age of 8 years old, George traveled to Greece, where he resided until 1975.  He then immigrated to the United States of America and he lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  In October of 1994, George decided to settle in Linden, New Jersey.

While in the United States, George was the owner and operator of DiGiorgio’s Pizzeria in Linden from 1977 to 1985, at which time he returned to Greece.  Upon George’s return to the Unites States in 1990, he became the owner and operator of G & S Auto Repair in Roselle, New Jersey, until his retirement in 2012.

George was an avid cook and he loved to get new recipes off the internet and prepare those delicious meals for his family.  He did not have any favorite ethnic food for his preparation, he just enjoyed cooking and working with all types of ingredients.  Of course, cooking and gardening often go hand in hand and George was a very hands on gardener.  His vegetable garden was enormous and held such variety.  He was known for growing award winning vegetables, especially his squash and tomatoes.

George is survived by his wife, Susan Koblis; his daughter, Stephanie G. Nikitiadis; his two sisters, Erini Mastrodimou and Venetia Nikitiadou-Roma and his three nieces.
