Mrs. Conrad, the daughter of the late Mary Behun Fornadel and the late George Fornadel, was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, until 1946 when she moved to Linden, New Jersey.
Mrs. Conrad was employed by the City of Linden, as a crossing guard for fifty years before she retired in October of 2013. Over the many years, her job brought her great joy in meeting so many children and their families, as well as, keeping them all safe on their way back and forth to school.
Mrs. Conrad was known for maintaining everything in a neat and clean fashion. She enjoyed cooking and made sure everyone was well fed. Mrs. Conrad loved to read and she was also very crafty, as she had an artistic side to her personality. In her early years, she had taken art classes, focusing on working with oil paints, but unfortunately, due to the era in which she grew up, her talents could not take bloom and be fostered into a serious passion. Mrs. Conrad had been a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Linden Knights of Columbus Council #2859.
Predeceased by her husband, John Conrad on August 29, 2004, Mrs. Conrad is survived by her two daughters, Denise Russell and her husband, Dale and Nancy Mugavero and her husband, Lawrence; her sister, Joanne Melcarski and her husband, Joseph; her six grandchildren and her caretaker, Elmira Carr.
