Donald Jacik Obituary

Mr. Donald Jacik, 88, earned his heavenly reward on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Donald, the son of the late Katherine Malek Jacik and the late John Jacik was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York.  He moved to Linden, New Jersey on November 2, 1977, where he has lived until his death.

Growing up, Donald had to leave high school to work on an ice truck to help support his family.  When he got older, this experience translated into Donald‘s forty year career as a truck driver, working for Darling Delaware, a food manufacturing supply company in Newark, New Jersey until his retirement in 1997.

After a long life of extremely hard work, making his deliveries, lifting 100-pound containers in & out of the trucks, Donald enjoyed the solace and peacefulness of his easy chair and the television.  He loved to watch the old shows, especially “In the Heat of the Night”, "Murder She Wrote” and “Columbo”.  In the movie genre, Donald relished watching his favorite actors; John Wayne in “The Quiet Man" and “True Grit” and James Cagney in the 1949 classic “White Heat”.  When music was involved, the voice and songs of Luciano Pavarotti were Donald’s first choice to fill the air.

Predeceased by his late wife, Victoria Stella Falkowski Jacik on September 14, 1985, Donald is survived by his two daughters, Donna M. Jacik-Lehner and her husband, Anthony and Patricia A. Jacik-Boyle and her husband, Timothy; his brother, John Jacik; his two grandchildren, Frank Cintorrino and Victoria Cintorrino and Donald’s neighbors and friends.

Donald was the center of life for his family, and he had an abundance of love for everyone in his circle.  He has waited a long time to be reunited with his late wife, Victoria, so may they both now find eternal rest.  Donald will certainly be deeply missed, but he will never be forgotten.
