Private funeral services will be held for Cesar H. Escobedo, 81, who passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.
Mr. Escobedo, son of the late Esther Araoz Escobedo and the late José Escobedo, was born in Arequipa, Pero. He came to the United States in 2001 and Mr. Escobedo resided in Elizabeth for many years before moving to Roselle, NJ and then finally settling in Linden, NJ two years ago.
Mr. Escobedo was a sergeant in the National Police of Peru for more than 25 years before his retirement in 1984.
His interests in life spanned many facets. Mr. Escobedo loved to garden and was known to have a green thumb when it came to his vegetables. He was so good that his wife would always ask him to cut back on his talents because they simply couldn’t eat the large amount of vegetation that he would grow. Mr. Escobedo, like many Peruvians, loved to watch soccer and cheer on his favorite team – La “U”. For a bit of relaxing at the same time keeping the mind sharp, Mr. Escobedo would play a mean game of chess. His love of being with people and engaging them in conversation was always emphasized as he was an active member of the Roselle Senior Citizens Club.
Pre-deceased by his brother, Víctor Pacheco, Mr. Escobedo is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Leonor C. Avila Escobedo; his six children, José Escobedo and his wife, Ivonne Pumasupa, Miriam Escobedo and her husband, Luis Peacker, Cecilia Escobedo and her husband, Edison Espinoza, Alberto Escobedo, Emily Escobedo and her husband, Ernesto Chavez and Jaime Escobedo and his wife, Katherine Garcés; his seven brothers and sisters, Irma Escobedo, Daniel Pacheco, Raúl Pacheco, Rosalinda Pacheco, Jorge Pacheco, Julio Pacheco and Maryluz Escobedo; his eleven grandchildren, Erick, Angela, Dulce, Nicole, Bryan, Marco, Jonathan, David, Ana, Christopher, Kammy, and Leonardo and his two great-grandchildren, Thiago and Logan.
