William Thomas Munkacsy
Mr. William Thomas Munkacsy, 93, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018 in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway, New Jersey.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Sunday, December 30th. from 2:00-5:00PM. On Monday, December 31st. everyone will gather in the parking area of the Kowalski Funeral Home, where we will join in procession to go to the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey. The prayers of committal, along with full military honors will take place in the cemetery chapel at 12:30PM followed by the internment.

Mr. Munkacsy, one of eleven children, was the son of the late Julia Slezak Munkacsy and the late Louis Munkacsy. He was born in Vintondale, Pennsylvania and apart from the time spent in his service to this country, Mr. Munkacsy has resided in Elizabeth, New Jersey since 1966.
Mr. Munkacsy was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service, working in the main Post Office in Elizabeth, New Jersey, from January 19, 1964 until his retirement in 1992.
Mr. Munkacsy served in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He was a twenty year career man who was very proud of the medals he earned.
Mr. Munkacsy was a member of the U.S. LST Association Ship #612, the Fleet Reserve Association and locally a member of the American Legion Post #60 in Roselle Park.
Mr. Munkacsy’s hobbies included his love of fishing and woodworking, but nothing could compare to the affection and devotion he had for all his nieces and nephews. His favorite and often recited motto was "live well, laugh often and love much"!
Predeceased by his wife of twenty-nine years, Matilda Munkacsy on November 26, 1995, Mr. Munkacsy is survived by his brother, Albert Munkacsy; his nine nieces, Anita Munkacsy Kralovich, Adrienne Munkacsy Marczewski, Audrey Munkacsy Romeo, Arlene Stansky O’Brien, Christine Munkacsy Pindris, Karen Munkacsy Cressman, Betty Hauff, Joanne Hauff and Linda Munkacsy Makely; his four nephews, Philip Munkacsy, Walter Stansky, Jr., Charles Hauff and Michael Munkacsy; his twenty-six great nieces and nephews; his twenty-six and still counting great great nieces and nephews and his companion and dance partner, Virginia "Ginny" Mudrak.
