Raymond J. Schmidt

Mr. Raymond “Ray-Ray” J. Schmidt, 90, died Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway, New Jersey.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Wednesday, January 23rd. from 5:30-8:00PM.  There will be a prayer service and a celebration of life on Wednesday at 7:40PM in the funeral home.  In accordance with Mr. Schmidt’s wishes, his cremation in Rosehill Crematory in Linden, New Jersey, will be private.

Ray-Ray, as he was affectionately known to all, was one of sixteen children born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Florence Wendling Schmidt and the late Frederick Schmidt.  He lived the majority of his life in Elizabeth, until he moved to Linden, New Jersey one year ago.

Ray-Ray was employed as a security guard at various places throughout the years before he retired in 1979.

Ray-Ray was an avid Giants football fan and he loved fishing, especially in Warinanco Park in Roselle, New Jersey.

Ray-Ray is survived by his brother; John Schmidt; his three sisters, Florence Menzler, Maryann Palasciano and Marge Corkerey and his adopted family, Phyllis Meola and Tom Dreissig, TJ Dreissig, Samantha “Sam” Dreissig and especially Ray-Ray’s twin “grandsons” that he doted on, Carmine and Michael Meola-Dreissig.
