Paul Sturm Obituary

Mr. Paul A. Sturm, 62, died suddenly on Friday, August 23, 2019.

Paul, the son of the late Eleanor Dietzel Sturm and the late Werner Sturm, was born in Newark, New Jersey.  He resided in South Plainfield, New Jersey before settling in Warren, New Jersey twenty-five years ago.

Paul was employed by the South Plainfield Board of Education as a music teacher working and teaching children in the middle school for twenty-years prior to his retirement in 2006.

He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Union Local 16-248 which covers Northern and Central New Jersey and is based in Paterson, New Jersey.  In addition, Paul played locally and was known for his trumpet expertise, but was also proficient with the piano.  His appreciation of music spanned all genres, but he especially loved jazz and classical music.  Paul’s other fascination was sports in general, especially the major league teams.  Baseball stood out as #1 and he always rooted for both the New York Yankees and the New York Mets.

Paul is survived by his wife of thirty years, Nancy M. Bodek Sturm; his two daughters, Julia Reydel and her husband, James and Carolyn Sturm; his three sisters, Ellen Albright, Katie Sturm and Martha Sturm and several nieces and nephews.

In respect to Pauls’ wishes, his funeral and cremation services are private.
