Mr. Joseph E. Czajkowski, 92, died Friday, November 17, 2017 in the Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.
Visitation will take place in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle St., Linden, on Monday, November 20th. from 4:00 – 8:00PM. On Tuesday, November 21st., at 8:30AM, family and friends are asked to gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will be held at 9:00AM, followed by the funeral mass to be offered in St. Theresa R.C. Church, Linden at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will follow in the chapel in Rosehill Crematory in Linden. The inurnment of Mr. Czajkowski’s cremains in the family niche in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey will be private.
Mr. Czajkowski, the son of the late Rose Dombrowski Czajkowski and the late Bartholomew Czajkowski was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he lived until moving to Linden, New Jersey in 1950.
Mr. Czajkowski was a maintenance worker for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of New Jersey in Newark, for twenty-six years and he retired in 1987.
Mr. Czajkowski was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper for the 517th. Parachute Infantry Division. Deployed in both Italy and France, Mr. Czajkowski was the proud recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star,
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Linden Retired Men’s Club, The National AARP, the AARP Linden Chapter #1894 and a past member of the Tremley Point Senior Citizens Club in Linden.
Predeceased by his son, Steven J. Czajkowski on April 16, 2008, Mr. Czajkowski is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Roberta “Bobbi” B. Biernacki Czajkowski; his two sons, Gregory R. Czajkowski and his wife Theresa and Robert B. Czajkowski and his wife, Amy and his five grandchildren, Brandon Czajkowski, Erica Boehm and her husband, Ryan, Spencer Czajkowski, Brent Czajkowski and Kaleena Czajkowski.
