Vinnie was born in Newark, New Jersey and he lived in Irvington and Union before settling in Springfield in 1976.
He was a well-known and respected real estate developer and builder for sixty-five years before he began his hard-earned retirement in 2022. Vinnie operated his business under the name Morrocco Real Estate, and he had five locations in the area with the main operations office in Union.
A lifelong learner, he read the newspaper cover to cover every day, staying well-informed and sharing his knowledge with his family. Vinnie had a thoughtful habit of clipping and sharing articles that were meaningful to his children. His cherished routine were his daily walks, which Vinnie called “doing his miles”. His kindness and gentle spirit shone brightly in Vinnie’s love for the neighborhood dogs. He cherished their companionship, often taking them on walks and playing with them, bringing joy to both their lives and his own. Vinnie found joy in life’s simple pleasures, like watching his favorite shows – Columbo, Kojak, The Andy Griffith Show, The Rifleman and Bonzana. He loved music and Vinnie found joy singing along in the car to some of his all-time favorites - Frank Sinatra, Bobby Vinton, Paul Anka, Engelbert Humperdinck, and Frankie Valli. Vinnie loved vacations, dining out, and socializing with friends. The beach house brought Vinnie an inner sense of peace that he enjoyed sharing with everyone he loved. Above all, Vinnie cherished his family- his wife, three children and four grandchildren were his world. Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by their love. Vinnie always had an exciting story to share at the dinner table and he never missed a game, birthday party, or a dance recital. Vinnie always made it a priority to bring the family together and he was fully involved in his grandchildren’s lives from the time they were born.
Vinnie is survived by the love of his life, his wife of sixty-three years, Marie A. Gartland Morrocco; his son, Vincent Morrocco, Jr.; his two daughters, Meredith “Meri” Delapa and Victoria Morrocco-Laguna and her husband, Thomas Laguna; his four grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Nico and Lilliana and Vinnie’s many neighbors and friends.
Vinnie was a man of faith who found salvation in his love for God. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, effortlessly making friends wherever he went. Warm and approachable, Vinnie was a true go-getter, carving his own path in life with intelligence and compassion. Vinnie’s legacy of love, determination, and kindness will forever inspire those who knew him. Vinnie will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, shaping who we are and guiding us forever.
