Tammy, the daughter of Marva Hayes Rouland and Terriel Rouland, Sr. was born in Plainfield, New Jersey. She lived in various cities in Essex County before settling in Carteret, New Jersey in 2002.
Tammy spent many years in her career as a home health aide working for various agencies and caring for both children and adults, before earning her retirement in 2010.
Throughout her life, Tammy loved scarry movies and indulged in her love of music, especially hip hop, R & B and dance music that kept her feet moving to the beat. In her early 20’s Tammy gave her life back to the Lord and her special gift was that she was a loving, caring lady who always enjoyed helping others. Her compassionate nature extended to Tammy’s many friends, neighbors and even strangers, for it was known her door was always open. Her generous heart was filled with love and strength. Her greatest attribute was that Tammy was simply about family! Nothing in this world gave her greater joy than spending time with them, whether it was sitting around a kitchen table sharing some coffee and cake or taking part in a big family celebration or cookout.
Predeceased by her father, Terriel Rouland, Sr. and her brother, Orlando Rouland, Tammy is survived by her son, Anthony T. Whitaker and his wife, Frances; her mother, Marva Rouland; her five siblings, Terriel Rouland, Jr., Debbie Rouland, Linda Rouland, Raymond Rouland and Latonya Rouland; her two granddaughters, Faith Whitaker and Alexa Whitaker; her six nieces, eight nephews and thirteen great nieces and nephews and her many friends and neighbors.
Tammy was the shining light of a brilliant star, and we were fortunate to have her enrich our lives. She had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle and our hearts are broken with this loss. Tammy will deeply missed, but our love for her will live on in our hearts.
