Mr. Stephen G. Gassler, Jr., 70, left his earthly world on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, after a long three year struggle with illness.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the memorial visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Tuesday, December 23rd. from 2:00-4:00PM. The cremation in Rosehill Crematory was private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to one of Steve’s favorite charities - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The donation can be made by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or online at http://www.stjude.org
Steve, the son of the late Mary Wance Gassler (1988) and the late Stephen G. Gassler, Sr. (1997) was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He lived most of his life in Linden prior to moving to Glen Gardner five years ago.
Steve started working for the City of Linden in the Public Works Department upon finishing high school and he retired in 2007 as a supervisor after dedicating himself to the job for thirty-five years.
An animal lover, Steve, relished getting out and about while walking his dogs. After his last dog passed, Steve felt it was time to move on into a different phase of his life. Steve was very much a homebody, so in his spare time, he appreciated the quietness and relaxation of watching all sorts of movies from his expansive DVD collection.
Steve is survived by his four children, Stephen G. Gassler, III and his wife, Caroline, Kelly Anne Gassler, Daniel Gassler and Samuel Gassler; his brother, John P. Gassler and his wife, Gertrude; his two sisters, Janice A. Gassler, Sandra J. Stanicki and her husband, Daniel; his two grandchildren, Keaghan Gassler and Declan Gassler; his niece, Jacqueline Gassler and Steve’s numerous cousins, neighbors and friends.
We know that Steve has found his new home, welcomed with open arms by his parents and surrounded by the estatic barking of all his dogs who previously crossed over the rainbow bridge. Although we will miss Steve, may he continue to always be a part of our happy memories as we wish him eternal rest.
