Mr. Richard G. Oldfield, 70, died suddenly on Friday, March 13, 2020, in his Linden home surrounded by his loving family.
On Monday, March 16th. at 9:00AM, family and friends will gather directly in the parking lot area of the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden. We will then form a procession to go to the Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside, where the prayers of committal will be offered prior to his burial in the family plot.
Mr. Oldfield, the son of the late Constance F. Young Oldfield and the late Edward J. Oldfield, was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey and he settled in Linden, New Jersey in 1969.
He was employed as a bottle capper for Tenco Instant Coffee, a division of the Coco Cola Bottling Company, in Linden. Mr. Oldfield continued his employment even after Tenco was acquired by the Chock Full o’Nuts Corporation. In total, Mr. Oldfield was at his job for nineteen years before retiring in 2012.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Oldfield loved to watch television, especially the games of the NY Jets football team and the NY Mets baseball team. His favorite choice of beverage was ice tea and he enjoyed drinking it all year long.
Mr. Oldfield is survived by his sister, Carol L. Lawson; his niece, Dawn Baio and his two great nephews, Joseph Baio and Cody Baio.
