Ralph Pileggi Obituary

Mr. Ralph Pileggi, 94, died Thursday, May 14, 2020 in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway, New Jersey.

Mr. Pileggi, the son of the late Amelia Perrone Pileggi and the late Vito Pileggi, was born in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania and he has resided in Linden, New Jersey for the past ninety-two years.

Mr. Pileggi was employed by the City of Linden, as a member of the Linden Fire department for thirty-five years.  Through his hard work and dedication, Mr. Pileggi rose to hold the rank of Deputy Chief of the Linden Fire Department and he retired on July 1, 1987.

Mr. Pileggi was a member of the Board of Directors of the Linden Police & Fireman’s Credit Union for sixty-five years.  He was a long time member of the Rahway YMCA, where he swam every day.  Mr. Pileggi often received awards from the YMCA for various things such as being the member who attended the YMCA the most or who made best use of what the YMCA has to offer.  He had a close knit group of swimming buddies, who not only got in their daily exercise, but also formed a special bond with each other, so much so, that they supported each other through life’s daily trials, as well as, life’s tribulations.  In his spare time, Mr. Pileggi loved to tackle a good crossword puzzle.  His family made sure that for at least the past five years, his birthday cake had a puzzle design on it.

Mr. Pilegi was predecease y his wife, Mary Croteau Pileggi (2013) and his son, Victor Pileggi (2008).  He is survived by his two sons, Ralph Pileggi, Jr. and his wife, Robin and Kenneth T. Pileggi and his wife, Eileen; his six grandchildren, Nancy Pileggi, Victor Pileggi, Jr., Jason Pileggi, Corrine Miller, Nicholas Pileggi and Thomas Pileggi and his nine great grandchildren.

Due to the COV-19 federal and state restrictions on public gatherings, all funeral services will be private.

To all of Mr. Pileggi’s family and friends, a memorial visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home will be planned for the future.  Ralph, Ken and their families look to that day to share their love, their sadness and their memories of their father, grandfather & great grandfather with everyone that meant so much to the Pileggi Family, over the years.
