Mrs. Phyllis Ann Dooley, 65, of Roselle Park, New Jersey married the love of her life, George V. Dooley on May 24, 1986, creating an anniversary date that they celebrated each year. This year, on August 7, 2024, a new anniversary date of sorts was formed when Phyllis entered the Kingdom of the Lord, surrounded by the love and care of her family, exactly twenty-six years after her beloved husband, George, unexpectedly joined the Lord, leaving behind a wake of broken hearts and tear- filled eyes.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Sunday, August 11th. from 1:00-5:00PM. On Monday, August 12th. at 9:45AM, everyone will gather directly at the Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park, where a funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will precede Phyllis’s entombment in the family crypt in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Phyllis, the daughter of the late Doris J. Marcocci Coppa (April 10, 2022) and Carmine G. Coppa was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She lived in Linden for fifteen years, followed by Rahway for twelve years, before settling in Roselle Park in 1986.
Phyllis was employed as a medical receptionist for twenty-two years for the Westfield Family Practice in Westfield and she retired this past June.
Phyllis enjoyed her free time traveling and vacationing with family, while still managing to spend quality time with her friends. Relaxation came in the form of watching her favorite television shows and as an extra treat to herself, she would go out to the cinema and take in a movie every now and then. The greatest joy in her life blossomed when her two beautiful grandchildren entered the picture. She adored it when they called her “Mema” and her heart spilled over with delight every moment that Phyllis spent with them. As much as she loved all her family, even her two children, the love of her grandchildren was a gift that she had never experienced before and could not find words to explain how much they truly enriched her life.
In addition to her husband, George, her mom, Doris, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sally and George Dooley, Phyllis lost her brother-in-law, Stephen Symczak earlier this year.
Phyllis has left behind the shattered hearts of her son, Brian G. Dooley and his wife, Silvana Dooley; her daughter, Shannon N. Kowal and her husband, Matthew M. Kowal; her sister, Lisa A. Symczak; her brother, George R. Coppa and his wife, Anne; her two granddaughters, Giuliana M. Dooley and Alessia G. Dooley; her cherished brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Dooley Family; her numerous nieces and nephews in the Symczak, Coppa and Dooley families and Phyllis’s co-workers, neighbors and friends.
There are not enough words to describe the kind and generous character of Phyllis that she so graciously shared with everyone who crossed her path. Knowing that Phyllis is once again reunited with her ”George”, may our prayers and words of condolence bring comfort to her family, to let them all know that Phyllis was loved…..she is loved…..that Phyllis will be loved forever!
