Peter S. Kolakowski

Mr. Peter S. Kolakowski, 63, died Sunday, July 25, 2021, in JFK Hartwyck at Cedar Brook Long Term Care Facility in Plainfield, New Jersey.

Peter, the son of the late Marianne Wistowski Kolakowski and the late Alfred Kolakowski, was born in Wilmington, Delaware.  Peter lived in Linden, New Jersey for twenty-eight years before moving to  Rahway, New Jersey followed by Avenel, New Jersey for the past few years.

After graduating from Linden High School, Class of 1976, Peter decided to enter the U.S. Air Force in 1978, where he proudly served his country for almost three years.  After completion of his service, Peter became a chemical operator with a forty-year employment history, working for such companies as Vantage Custom, Essex Grain Products, Inc. and most recently Doehler North American in Pine Brook, New Jersey.

In his spare time, Peter kept himself busy in a variety of activities.  He was a diehard fan of professional sports, with his favorite teams being the NY Mets (baseball), the NY Gants (football) and the NY Rangers (hockey).  Peter loved taking his daughter, Katie, to all the different baseball parks to enjoy the experience of Major League play action. 

Rock & roll music was his thing, especially any and all music by the Rolling Stones & Peter always looked forward to going to concert venues.  For relaxation, the beach was the place to be for Peter and he enjoyed the tranquility of Island State Park/Beach.  When his daughters were small, he had such great fund spending time with them and taking them to places like Seaside Park or Pt. Pleasant/Jenkinsons where there was a ton of arcade games and fun rides to go on.  Peter made sure to take them to places like the New York Aquarium and street fairs, especially the one in Sussex County, which was a yearly trek.  He always had dogs in his life and had a blast playing with them, starting with his two dogs that have since passed away, Chloe the boxer and Chance, the American Bulldog.  Last year the puppy, Whiskey, a boxer/bulldog mix, with enough energy to outlast everyone, came into his life.  When it came to the television, you could always find Peter watching the game shows or catching up on the different series he was fond of,  such as NCIS, Blue Bloods and CSI.  Peter was also a huge fan of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).  Movies were in his wheelhouse as well, in that he liked to watch them from all the different genres, action, murder mysteries, romance and comedy, to name a few.  However, when all was said & done, the thing that Peter loved the most, was simply hanging at home, being with his family.  For him, there was nothing better than that!

Peter is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Theresa M. Tiffert Kolakowski; his two daughters, Meagan Kolakowski and Kaitlen Kolakowski, his co-workers and his friends.

With respect to the wishes of Peter and his family, all the funeral services will be private.
