Mrs. Patricia Murawski Malicher, 72, broke our hearts when she passed away far too early on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, in the Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Monday, June 26th. from 1:00-5:00PM. On Tuesday, June 27th. at 9:45AM, everyone will start to gather directly at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Linden where a funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will follow in the chapel of Rosehill Crematory, Linden.
Patricia, the daughter of the late Jennie Kurtz Murawski and the late Edward J. Murawski, was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was raised in Linden where she lived with her family until July of 1977 when she settled in New Providence, New Jersey.
At the start of her work career, Patricia was a computer analyst programmer for Prudential Insurance Company in Newark from 1974 to 1981. She then became the manager in information systems for Warner Lambert in Morris Plains from April of 1981 to December 31, 2000. Her final job was as a consultant for IBM in Piscataway from January 1, 2001, until December 31, 2014, when Patricia decided to take her well-deserved retirement.
She was the past president of the Community Services Association in New Providence and a past member of the Northern Union County Domestic Violence Civilian Response Team.
Throughout her life, Patricia was an avid reader, gleaning any and all books about our United States history, especially the Civil War. Travel was in her soul, and she was fortunate enough to take many trips with her husband and family to explore places here in the United States, the various island paradises and many countries abroad. In her early years, Patricia enjoyed bowling, but really just for fun. She loved to watch all types of sporting events including both college and professional teams. Football and basketball were two of her favorites, but truly Patricia appreciated the level of play in all sports, and she understood and respected the work the athletes had to accomplish in order to achieve that level of play. Patricia was very much an active participant at the Decorso Community Center in New Providence. She made so many friends there over the years and together they took part in all the games and activities. Friday Bingo was definitely one of her favorites. Patricia even entertained all the members with her special presentations about travel destinations and what to see and do and in her earlier years, she often gave the same lectures on cruise ships. As you can see, Patricia was full of surprises!
Predeceased by her two sisters, Janet Hasko and Dorothy T. Margavitz, Patricia is survived by her husband of forty-six years, David Joseph Malicher; her two daughters, Jennifer S. Malicher and Amanda J. Malicher and her fiancée, Kevin Schoonmaker and her grandson, Spencer.
Patricia had deep family roots as a “Linden Girl” and she was blessed with a husband who adored her and family and friends who loved and cherished her. She never put on airs and with Patricia it was always “what you see is what you get”. She was never afraid to voice her opinion, even if it was not a popular one. Patricia was a very unique lady who will be deeply missed but she will never be forgotten.
