Olga was born in San Salvador, El Salvador and she came to the United States in 1983. She lived in nearby Roselle for eighteen years before settling in Linden twenty three years ago.
Olga was an active, vibrant member of the Linden community. She was a member of the various PTA organizations as her sons progressed through the Linden school system, including School 2, McManus Junior High School and Linden High School. When it came to sports participation, Olga wholeheartedly jumped in with two feet and became a “Baseball Mom” as her three sons, Bryan, Nicholas and Andrew, played for their respective schools, the Linden PAL and their different travel teams. The “Football Mom” moniker was also in Olga’s wheelhouse as her sons played with Pop Warner and their school teams. She was very proud to wear two caps that had those titles bedazzled on it. Olga’s social life was always in constant motion, since Olga was the celebration coordinator in the family, making sure the cake tables were fully stocked with all the goodies and the party decorations were in full bloom. Olga appreciated music of all kinds, but jokingly said “good music”, of course! Music was always a huge part of her life and naturally when the music started, you knew that you would find Olga dancing away, her feet moving to the beat. She simply loved to dance! Olga was very dedicated to the Relay for Life Cancer walks, and she made sure others in her life became involved, as well. Online shopping was her go to whenever she needed a little retail therapy. Olga’s perfect places to find inner peace and solitude came from her walks on the beach, especially her favorite beaches in Belmar and Wildwood and of course, in Olga’s native hometown of San Salvador. Even with all of this, the greatest joy in Olga’s life came from spending time with her family. Nothing in the world could top any moment, minute or hour spent with them. Her talks with her sisters could go on forever, whether they were discussing important matters in life or silly things, as all girls do. All in all, Olga became a true “Jersey Girl”!
Predeceased by her father, Baltazar Castillo in 1991, she is survived by her husband of thirty years, Steven R. Plummer; her three sons, Bryan Plummer, Nicholas Plummer and Andrew Plummer; her mother, Maria Mejia; her six sisters, Ana Mejia, Patricia Martinez, Elisa Castillo, Juana Laureano, Yanira Mejia and Dinora Mejia; her four brothers, Luis Mejia, Juan Pablo Mejia, Alexander Mejia and Jose Paltez; Olga’s numerous extended family members and a host of neighbors and friends.
Olga was the shining, guiding light of her family that has now been dimmed. Join us as we pray for Olga’s family so that God may give them the strength and the courage to learn how to live their lives without their beloved Olga. She was the center of life for her family and Olga had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle. Olga will be deeply missed, but she will remain in our hearts forever.
