Noemi (Rojas) Nieves

Mrs. Noemi Rojas Nieves, 67, died Thursday, February 24, 2022, in her home, surrounded by the love and devotion of her family.

Noemi, the daughter of the late Blanca Maldonado Rojas and the late Julio Rojas, was born in Brooklyn, New York.  She lived in Los Angeles, California for thirteen years before returning to Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she settled for thirty-seven years until moving to Piscataway a few months ago.

Noemi was a store manager for Dressbarn for many years and she started to enjoy her retirement in 2018.

Outside of her work life, Noemi filled her heart with joy through a number in interests.  She was an outstanding seamstress.  Noemi enjoyed learning about styling, and she would then transform that knowledge into making clothes.  Her house was always filled with music and often, you could catch Noemi dancing around the rooms.  Noemi loved to garden, especially her flowers and her house plants – she definitely had a green thumb.  She was also a prolific Amazon shopper, so much so, that her family would often tease Noemi about it.  However, even with all these activities, Noemi simply loved being a grandmother.  Nothing gave her greater joy or purpose in her life.

Predeceased by her husband, Silverio Nieves on October 20, 2018, Noemi is survived by her three children, Anthony Castro and his wife, Yomayra, Nakisha Viera and her husband, Felix and Nydia Nieves; her four siblings, Evelyn Santiago, Miriam Roman, Abby Resto and Julio Rojas; her seven grandchildren, Naomi Rosa, Christian Viera, Felix Viera, Emilia Castro, Ethan Viera, Pablo Cruz and Damian Castro and her three great grandchildren, Alexis Valeriano, Aliya Bolanos and Ivannah Viera.

Noemi was the heart and soul of her family, who are now lost without her.  She will live on in their hearts forever.

With respect to Noemi’s wishes, her cremation will be private.
