Mrs. Nadine Raphael, 50, entered the arms of the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
We respectfully request that no one arrives at the church prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation to be held in the Council Evangelical Apostolic (CEA) Church of God, 67 Prince Street, Elizabeth on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 8:00AM to 10:00AM, followed by the funeral service in the church at 10:00AM. The prayers of the committal will precede Nadine’s burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Nadine, the daughter of Dina Saint Florant and Joseph L. Pierre, was born in Limbe, Cap-Haitien, Haiti. She came to the United States in 1998 and she immediately settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Nadine worked for many years in the nursing and medical community, most recently as a medical assistant at Sunrise Senior Living of Westfield, New Jersey.
Throughout her life, nursing and taking care of people was her passion. Nadine was an extremely religious lady, having been raised in a church atmosphere, where it was second nature to her to love and care for the church community, neighbors, and friends, as if she was following the path that the Lord set out for her.
In high school, she played volleyball, but Nadine was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching basketball, football, and other sports. It was extremely important to Nadine to spend quality time with her family and friends, as she was very sociable, and she appreciated having spirited conversations. Nadine, being a caregiver, of course loved to cook. She would prepare traditional dishes for large parties or small gatherings with the same gusto. It gave her a great sense of love and caring when she could feed the people in her life. Nadine had a heart of gold, and she would help anyone in need. It was a part of her spirit and her soul.
In addition to her parents, Nadine is survived by her husband Jean P. Raphael. They were sweethearts for twenty-eight years and have been married since 2003. She also leaves behind her two children, Ackim J. Raphael and Bernedyn J. Raphael; her four siblings, Lunie, Alephe, Junior and Wesley and her many other family, friends and neighbors.
Nadine was the bright shining star that guided her family. Their hearts are broken, and the tears fill their eyes as they struggle to come to terms with this enormous loss. Nadine will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten.
