Mr. Mieczyslaw Misiag, 96, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Friday, July 8th. from 4:00-8:00PM. On Saturday, July 9th. at 8:30AM, everyone will start to gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will begin at 9:00AM, followed by the funeral mass to be offered in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will precede Mr. Misiag’s burial in the family plot in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The family will be providing bus transportation for those family and friends who would like to attend the burial at the cemetery.
Mr. Misiag, the son of the late Jozefina Kontek Misiag and the late Jan Misiag, was born in Rulikowka Pow. Sokal woj.Lwow Poland. He came to the United States in 1955 and he resided in Linden, New Jersey until 1994. Mr. Misiag then relocated to Melbourne, Florida where he lived for twenty-eight years before recently moving to West Melbourne, Florida.
In his early years while living in England, Mr. Misiag was a weaver of fine wool for the manufacture of upscale suits and other clothing. In the United States, his main career was as an auto mechanic working for the U.S. Postal Service in South Hackensack, New Jersey for twenty-three years and he began his well-earned retirement in 1990.
In Poland, Mr. Misiag started with the Polish Young Soldiers organization. During World War II, he served as a Kapral in the Polish Army under British Command. Mr. Misiag also saw active duty in the Royal Air Force (RAF) while in England and he was a member of the Polish Air Force Association, the Polish Air Force Veterans Association of America, New York Wing and the Siberian Society of Florida.
Mr. Misiag was a deeply religious man, and he was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden, New Jersey where he was a member of its’ Usher Society and the Holy Name Society. When he settled in Florida, Mr. Misiag made sure to become a part of Our Lady of Lourdes Church community in Melbourne, Florida and he also offered his services as a usher for that church. His activities while in Florida only grew, in that he was a member of the International Visitors Organization and the Navy League. Mr. Misiag was a proud member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Even with all of this, his favorite part of life was spending time with his family and friends, whether it was just a quick get together or a big party or celebration. He was a wiz in the kitchen and was the grand cook of the household; known for making all the delicacies, as well as, the comfort foods of the Polish heritage and traditions. Mr. Misiag was a kind soul, a perfect gentleman and someone that you aways wanted to be around and spend time with.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Wanda Nowak Misiag on June 7, 1990, and his angel of a daughter, Miss Teresa W. Misiag on June 15, 2016.
Surviving is his loving wife, Candace E. Ehler Misiag. They spent thirty years together and they were married for twenty-three years. Mr. Misiag also leaves behind his son, John Misiag; his daughter, Elizabeth M. Parmer and her husband, Thomas; his step-daughter, Ms. Shannon Griffin and her companion, Dr. Luis Luna; his nine grandchildren, Keith Kivi and his wife, Emily, Courtney Marin and her husband, Alvaro, Christine Parmer, Ryan Misiag and his wife, Megan, Jaclyn Misiag, Jordan Luna, Julian Luna, Chloe Luna and Cameron Luna; his five great grandchildren, Hannah Kivi, Lindsay Kivi, Hailey Misiag, Douglas Misiag and Xiomara Rose Marin; his three brothers-in-law, Wayne Ehler, Bryan Ehler and Darian Ehler and his extended family in Poland and Australia.
Mr. Misiag was the center of life for his family, and he had an abundance of love for everyone in his circle. He will be deeply missed, but he will never be forgotten.
