Obituary

Mr. Michael Joseph Noon, 41, left us broken hearted and in tears on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

On Wednesday, April 12th., family and friends are invited to gather directly at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, Linden where a funeral mass will be offered at 10:00am.  The prayers of committal will precede Michael’s burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.  PLEASE OMIT FLOWERS.  Donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, also known as the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley, PO Box 299, 80 Woods Road, Valhalla, NY 10595.

Michael, the son of Maryann Gergich Noon and Michael J. Noon, was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  He grew up and attended school in Linden where he continued to reside to this day.

Michael was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.  He had a twenty-year career in the food and hospitality industry, where he was employed as an executive sous chef, a major events chef, a sous chef and a chef de partie.  Michael worked at a variety of prestigious locations, including the Metropolitan Club, Ridgewells Catering, the Lakewood Country Club and the USGA U.S. Open.  For the past two years, Michael has been the sous chef at the Metropolitan Opera House in Lincoln Center in New York City, New York.

In his down time, Michael enjoyed watching professional football, especially his team, the New York Jets and even though he cooked professionally, you could occasionally find Michael cooking for the family, especially at Thanksgiving.

Predeceased by his mother, Maryann Gergich Noon (2019) and his two aunts, Joan Noon Palay (2018) and Janice Noon Shannon (2021), Michael is survived by his father, Michael J., Noon; his two sons, Benjamin Noon and Ethan Noon; his uncles and aunts, Donald Noon, Donna King and her husband, James, Charles G. Gergich and his wife, Brenda, Regina Ford and her husband Jeffrey, Kathleen Gergich and Hank Shannon and Michael’s many cousins, co-workers, friends and neighbors.

Michael left us all too soon but we take comfort that our family in Heaven greeted him with open arms.  He will be sorely missed, but Michael will always remain in our hearts.
