Mrs. Maria Majewicz, 90, entered the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family.

The prayers of committal will precede Maria’s burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Please omit flowers. Donations in Maria’s memory may be made to your favorite charity.
Maria was born on September 8, 1933, in Radziechów, Poland, a small village that is now part of Ukraine.
At the outset of World War II, when Maria was still a young child, her family fled to Rogowo, Poland, a village near the Baltic Sea. There, she finished high school and then worked as a government clerk.
She met her husband, Frank Majewicz, when he was on a visit to Poland. Upon being introduced to Frank by his cousin, Maria swore that she had seen his face in a dream the night before—as the man she was to marry. It was a whirlwind romance, and they married shortly after meeting, on November 3, 1963.
She immigrated to the United States, became a United States citizen, and settled with her husband in Uniondale, New York, where they raised two children, Anna and Peter.
She and her husband moved to Linden, New Jersey, in 1998, where they were both active members of St. Theresa’s Church.
In her later years, Maria was a member of the Linden Senior Men and Women’s Club and a dedicated member of the Linden knitting and crochet club, “Knitting for a Cause.”
She moved to Cranford, New Jersey, in 2021, where she lived until her final day.
Maria had a sunny disposition and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved teasing her grandchildren, but she always made up for it with her crocheted gifts, which adorn her children’s homes and all of her grandchildren’s beds. As a member of the Linden knitting club, she devoted countless hours of needlework to making blankets and infant caps to donate to hospitals. Maria was also a lifelong reader. She devoured books throughout her life, and in her later years, even as her eyesight failed, she continued to read the newspaper using a digital reader. Her love of reading is something Maria passed on to her grandchildren, who have all grown into avid readers.
Maria was also an animal lover. Whether it was secretly feeding pets from the table or lovingly referring to her cat, Kuba, as her “boyfriend,” Maria always loved spending time with furry friends, and they were certainly always grateful to see her kind smile and generous hand.
Kuba will miss her, as will her grandchildren who hope to keep Maria’s memory close to them with her handmade blankets and scarves, as well as with her unbeatable pierogi recipe. While Maria would often tsk-tsk at their poorly shaped pierogi, she spent long days patiently teaching her grandchildren how to make them. Thanks to her lifetime of experience and special knack for making pierogi, with a cup or two of love mixed in, no other pierogi have ever compared to the ones that Maria (Mamusia/Babcia) made.
Predeceased by her husband, Frank Majewicz in 2002, Maria is survived by her daughter, Anna T. Majewicz and her husband, William Wilson; her son, Peter J. Majewicz and his wife, Christina and her six grandchildren, Julia Wilson, Emily Wilson, Grace Wilson, Amanda Majewicz, Joseph Majewicz and Peter Majewicz.
Maria was the center of life for her family, and she had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle. Maria will be deeply missed, but she will always remain in our hearts.
