Laurente, the daughter of the late Edora Pontura Coqullion and the late Lidovic Coqullion, was born in Cotes-de-Fer, Haiti. She came to the United States in July of 1974 and Laurente lived in various places, such as Brooklyn, New York, Elizabeth, New Jersey and Florida, prior to settling in Rahway, New Jersey five years ago.
Laurente was employed in the food service industry, working for Continental Airlines in Newark, New Jersey from 1995 until her retirement in 2007.
Her spare time was hardly boring. She enjoyed watching the professional WWE wrestling matches and of course, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy game shows. One of her guilty pleasures was watching the soap operas, especially General Hospital, as well as the various Novellas. Even though Laurente did not understand the Spanish language of the Novellas, she and her sister, always seemed to know exactly what was happening in the story line.
Everyone was always happy to be around Laurente. She was known to be the life of the party, whether Laurente would suddenly break out dancing to the beat that moved her feet or listening to the traditional Haitian music called Kompa. She was known for her cooking. Laurente always cooked as if she were feeding a large crowd and most of her family knew to join in for her Sunday dinners. Laurente was very much a “giver”. Generous in nature, she went out of her way to gift family, friends and visitors with little things, just to make them happy. She absolutely loved life and everything it had to offer.
Predeceased by her son, Anthony Lindor, Laurente is survived by her twelve children, Roody Berger and her husband, Yohay, Sandra Lindor, Daphne Lindor and her husband, Juan Gualdarrama, Ronny Lindor and his companion, Stephany Jimenez, Magalie “Gigi” Adrien, Carline Roche, Monique Laurent, Amy Andres, Alice Romulus, Raoul Lindor, Jr., Barbara Lindor and Rachel Lindor; her many beloved grandchildren, among them, Sonya Berger, Gabriel Berger and Raiden Lindor-Jimenez; her sister, Micheline Neron and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
As per the regulations imposed through the State of New Jersey, there will now be a maximum of one hundred (100) people allowed in the funeral home at one time. Face protection is also required as per state regulations. We thank you for your understanding during this time of transition.
