Mrs. Katarzyna Sanicka Sumara, 44, died Sunday, July 24, 2022 in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.

Katarzyna, the daughter of Barbara Korwek Sanicka and Andrzej Sanicki was born in Kolno, Poland.  She came to the United States in September of 2005, living in Garfield, New Jersey before moving to Cranford, New Jersey ten years ago.

Katarzyna, while living in Poland was employed as a teacher for the young children in grades 1-3.  Here in the United States, she continued her love of teaching by working part time for the Polish Cultural Foundation Inc. in Clark, New Jersey for four years.  As a friendly, helpful, and loving person, it was a very natural transition for Katarzyna to become an outstanding teacher that the children simply adored.

Katarzyna loved camping and every year, there was a summer family road trip to Lake George in New York where wonderful memories were made.  Katarzyna was very dedicated to her studies, and she advanced her education to the point where she had earned her master’s degree.  As important and enjoyable as all of this was, the highlight of Katarzyna’s life was very simple – she loved staying home, taking care of her husband and her daughters.  There was nothing that gave her greater joy!

In addition to her parents, Katarzyna is survived by her husband, Leszek J. Sumara; her two daughters, Pola Maya Sumara and Elena Anna Sumara; her two sisters, Izabela Kuzlik and Marta Straczek and her husband, Adam; her brother, Adam Sanicki and his wife, Joanna; her four nephews, Mateusz Kuzlik, Filip Sanicki, Nikodem Sanicki and Konstanty Sanicki ; her niece, Victoria Stracek and her many friends and neighbors.

Katarzyna was the center of life for her family, and she had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle.  Katarzyna will be forever in our minds, our hearts and our prayers.  Our hearts are broken beyond repair.
