Mr. Julio C. Gonzalez, Sr., entered the arms of the Lord, surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, October 3, 2022.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation at the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden, New Jersey on Monday, October 10th, from 2:00-6:00PM. On Tuesday, October 11th, from 9:15-10:15AM, everyone will gather at the funeral home for a final farewell that will conclude with a celebration service. The burial will follow in the family plot at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.
Mr. Gonzalez, the son of the late Camila Murillo Gonzalez and the late Alfredo Gonzalez Cantillano, was born in Puerto Cortes, Honduras. He came to the United States in 1964 and completed his naturalization in 1987. Mr. Gonzalez lived in various places in New York until he retired and settled in New Jersey.
Mr. Gonzalez was a hard-working bus driver for over thirty years for the Manhattanville MTA Bus Depot in Harlem, New York.
Throughout his life, he had many means of relaxation. Mr. Gonzalez was captivated by watching the Discovery Channel with all of its wonders and on the opposite spectrum, he got a kick out of watching the WWE wrestling matches. He also loved listening to baladas which filled his heart and soul with joy as well as taking trips back to his native country of Honduras. Although he drove buses for a living, Mr. Gonzalez dabbled in buying and selling school buses. Even with all this, the most important reward in Mr. Gonzalez’s day was whenever he got time to spend with his family, whether it was for a big fancy holiday or small intimate gatherings.
Pre-deceased by his son, Julio C. Gonzalez, Jr., Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his wife, Luz Marina Ramirez Gonzalez; his seven children, Nadia Gonzalez, Carol Coto and her husband, Steve Martinez, Keila J. Gonzalez, Damaris Sanders and her husband, Nathaniel, Lisa Grayson and her husband, Nairobi, Victor Gonzalez and Leonarda “Camilita” Gonzalez. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren; his four great grandchildren; his four brothers and sisters and his many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, former co-workers and neighbors.
Mr. Gonzalez was most beloved by his family and friends; their hearts are broken because he has left them too soon. His memory and more importantly his love will live on forever.
