Julia Dobosiewicz Obituary

Mrs. Julia Evelyn Dobosiewicz, 92, of Linden, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on December 30th 2021 after a very long and blissful life.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation at Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden, NJ, 07036 on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A final visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5th 2022 from 9:30AM to 10:15AM, followed by a funeral mass which will be offered in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the family plot at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Linden, NJ.

Mrs. Dobosiewicz was born on June 1st, 1929 to her parents Frank and Antonia Malek in Rahway, NJ. Julia grew up in the Union County area, and eventually met the love of her life John J. “Chevy” Dobosiewicz, starting their life together as newlyweds on November 14th, 1953. During her younger years, Julia worked at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, for about 10 years, before leaving to focus on raising her family. She was a member of the Linden Retired Men’s Club, and would often be seen at gatherings taking pictures with her various cameras. She absolutely loved photography, and really enjoyed sharing the memories she captured with friends and family. Before the digital age of cameras, she used to actually get film developed, and give it to her loved ones the next time she saw them.

Julia adored Elvis. She truly enjoyed all his music and movies, and became very friendly with an Elvis impersonator by the name of Paul Daniels. She went to many of his performances and soon became his “#1 Fan,” which he mentioned multiple times during his acts. Julia also enjoyed arts and crafts, and knitting. Years ago, she even made dolls which were dubbed “Julie Patch Kids.”

Mrs. Dobosiewicz is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Antonia Malek, her loving husband of 50 years John J. “Chevy” Dobosiewicz, her son John F. Dobosiewicz, and her brothers and sisters Katherine "Katie" Jacik, John Malek, Joseph Malek, Helen Guss, Mary Tarnecky, George Malek, and Ann Cece.

She is survived by her sons James G Dobosiewicz and his partner George Alford, of Rahway, and Joseph M. Dobosiewicz and his wife Christina, of Linden, her daughter-in-law Diana Dobosiewicz, of Westfield, her grandchildren Hailey, Christian, Jack, Faith, Joey and his wife Amanda, and Bobby, her niece Ruth Clusman, and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Even though we are sad she has left us, we know she is safely home with her husband “Chevy," and her son John in heaven.
