Ms. Josephine Babinec, 85, died Thursday, March 10, 2022, in CareOne at Wall in Wall Township, New Jersey.
Josephine, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Karkovich Babinec and the late Stephan Babinec, was born and raised in Linden, New Jersey where she lived for seventy years before relocating to Lakewood thirteen years ago. She then moved to Toms River in November of 2020.
Josephine was a graduate of the Drake Business College, earning high achievements in both steno and typing. She could burn up her IBM Selectric typewriter, a feat that she was very proud of.
A woman ahead of her time, Josephine embarked on a long-term career as an executive secretary for the Simmons Company in Elizabeth, New Jersey spanning almost fifty years before she started to enjoy her retirement in 1996.
Throughout her life, Josephine loved to cook for anyone and everyone, whether it be a big sit-down dinner for family or a simple get together with a friend or two. She also expressed her creative juices decorating her home, most notably for the holidays of Christmas and Easter.
Predeceased by her brother, Andrew J. Babinec and her sister, Eleanor Hoffman, Josephine is survived by her niece, Deborah A. Hoffman; her nephew, James Hoffman and his wife, Juliet; her great nephew, Jason Hoffman and his wife, Daniella; her great niece, Jenna Howarth and her husband, Kevin and her great great niece and nephews, Penelope Hoffman, Benjamin Hoffman and Chase Howarth.
Josephine endured the loss of all her family members over the years and it is quite difficult to be the last one remaining of that circle. She is now together again with her beloved parents and siblings and we who remain will come together at the committal service to celebrate Josephine and her life and legacy.
Respecting Josephine’s wishes, her cremation in Rosehill Crematory in Linden was private.
On Wednesday June 22nd. at 11:00AM, family and friends will gather in the parking lot area of the cemetery office of St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. We will then proceed to the gravesite where the prayers of committal will be offered by the clergy from St. Theresa R. C. Church, Linden prior to the burial of Josephine's cremains in the family plot.
