Jose "Pepe" Antonio Fernandez

Mr. Jose Antonio Fernandez, 82, known lovingly as “Pepe” to family and friends alike, entered the Heavenly Kingdom on Sunday November 30, 2025.

Pepe, the son of the late Sara Lavales Fernandez and the late Mario C. Fernandez, was born in Havana, Cuba.  He came to the United States as a teenager and he has lived in Newark, New Jersey since the late 1960’s.

Pepe was the cornerstone of the family business, Tiffany Design Company in Newark, New Jersey where he was the Director of Manufacturing for thirty-six years prior to retiring in 2006.

He had a heart of gold and a soft spot for all animals, but especially dogs.  In Pepe’s free time he enjoyed working with stained glass, making beautiful tiffany-style lamps.  Pepe was truly a lover of the arts.  He was first and foremost a gentleman who enjoyed his family and he lived a life filled with love and laughter.  Pepe could spend hours talking and getting to know the people around him.  His face radiated with a constant smile on his lips that extended to the brightness in the light of his eyes.    

Predeceased by his brother, Mario M. Fernandez on March 5, 2018, Pepe is survived by his wife, Ana M. Pena Andino; his son, Bryan Mario Fernandez and his wife, Emily; his daughter, Yamile Fernandez; his sister, Sara Morgado and her husband, Alvaro Morgado; his four grandchildren; his nephew, Neil A. Morgado; his two nieces, Gail D. Morgado and Lauren I. Morgado and Pepe’s many neighbors and friends in New Jersey, Florida and his homeland of Cuba.

Pepe’s joy was centered around his family and his love of life and making the best of whatever came his way.  His light has now been dimmed, but his spirit will continue to live on in all those who knew him and loved him.  Pepe will be greatly missed, but he will never be forgotten.  May Pepe rest in Eternal Peace.

With respect to the family’s wishes, all Pepe’s funeral arrangements will be private.
