Mr. John J. Mularz, 93, of Elizabeth, NJ, passed away at home in the company of his loving wife on September 7th, 2022.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Wednesday, September 14th, 2022, from 4:00 - 8:00PM and Thursday September 15th, 2022, from 8:30 - 9:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, located at 600 Myrtle Street, Elizabeth, NJ, 07202 on Thursday September 15th, 2022, at 10:00AM. Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum space at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in John's memory be made to St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church.
John was born on August 22nd, 1929, in Elizabeth, NJ, where he grew up, married his wife, raised his family, and retired. As a young man, John worked as a Firefighter for the City of Elizabeth for over 30 years before retiring in 1990. He was also an honored veteran who served in the Korean Campaign from 1951-1953 in the 380th and 459th AAA Gun Battalion Headquarters Battery. John was a member of the Elizabeth Fireman’s Mutual Association #9, the Union County Retired Police and Fireman Local #3, the Elizabeth Fire Relief Association, and the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post #91, Linden.
John Mularz was many things to many people; a loving husband of 67 years to his wife Josephine, a caring parent to his children Lorraine, Jeffrey and his wife Evelyn and a super cool grandpa to three grandchildren Ashley, Jonathan, & Megan. John was a handyman, a friend to many, and an upstanding & helpful citizen in his community & church (St. Hedwig). In his free time, John loved going to the Jersey shore, visiting friends, traveling, and eating all kinds of tasty foods. John had a knack for building & fixing things, he loved working with his hands.
John was also an avid sports fan who loved to play basketball and softball. He played basketball with St. Adalbert’s Catholic Club, The Polish Falcons, St. Stanislaw Catholic Club, and the C.C. Singer’s City & Industrial League. He also played for a few years the fife and bugle with the Polish Falcons Drum Corp.
The loving memory of John will never be forgotten because it lives on in our hearts.
