Jack was born in the Shenandoah area of Pennsylvania to parents Leon and Rose (Donohoe) Blewis on March 10th, 1941.  He spent his early years growing up in Lost Creek #2 and Fountain Springs, before moving to Irvington, NJ.  There he met the love of his life Irene Kazanowski, and they got married in 1961 after high school.  Jack began his professional career at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company in Newark, NJ in the mailroom and as a chauffer. He worked his way up to lineman, and through various "Baby Bell Companies" for over 40 years, before he retired out of Lucent Technologies as an IT Specialist in 2003.  Jack also served his country as a member of the United States Army, and spent years in the reserves as well.

Jack was always a staunch supporter of veterans. His determination and desire was prevalent in many different ways.  He frequently make visits through the Knights of Columbus to the Lyons VA Medical Center, and from 2009 to 2012, was involved with the Guardianship Mentoring Program for veterans, which ensured vets got the help and assistance they needed.  Jack also received certificates as a “Certified Master Gardener,” and received commendations from the State Senate, General Assembly and the president of Rutgers University.  He was also involved in looking after the younger generation as well, receiving certificates from the 4-H Youth Development Program.

Jack was a man of many hobbies as well.  He enjoyed skiing, tennis and golf in his younger years.  He was a “die-hard” NY Rangers fan and liked to watch Formula 1 racing.  Jack also loved food and took an occasional cooking class to experience new recipes.  He would take his daughter Katharine trout fishing every Father's Day and he would always make sure to take an annual trip with his beloved Irene.  They really loved to travel together and their first major destination was Acapulco.  Some other places they marked on the map were Russia, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, New Zealand, London, Paris, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, South Africa, and Peru, to just name a few. He also was a big fan of "camel racing," which was a popular sport on many of his excursions. Above all else, Jack was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend, and he will be truly missed.

Jack is predeceased by his parents Leon and Rose Blewis, his loving wife of 61 years Irene A.  Blewis, his sister Ann Wilcox and her husband Thomas.  He is survived by his cherished daughter Katharine A.  Blewis and her partner Kenneth Beitz, his sister Mary Buydos and her husband Ralph, his sister-in-law Stella Tylicki, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Although we are saddened at the loss of our dear Jack, we take solace knowing he is with his loving wife Irene for eternity, planning their next big trip together.  May they rest in peace.
