Joan (Yacik) Linkus

Mrs. Joan Yacik Linkus, 82, died Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

All aspects of Mrs. Linkus’s traditional funeral will be private for the family only.

Mrs. Linkus, the daughter of the late Helen Szot Yacik and the late John Yacik, was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  She lived in Linden, New Jersey until 1968, when she moved to Colonia, New Jersey.

Mrs. Linkus was employed as an office clerical worker for Falcon Supply Company in Carteret, New Jersey for ten years prior to her retirement in 2004.

She had a very long history and relationship with St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden.  Some of the highlights include the marriage of Mrs. Linkus to the love of her life, Robert T. Linkus, on October 12, 1957.  Actually, Mrs. Linkus’s entire family belonged to St. Theresa’s Parish and her children were all enrolled in the St. Theresa School, until the family relocated to Colonia.  Mrs. Linkus was also a choir member for many years.  Throughout the years, many of the religious items within the church were gifted by Mrs. Linkus’s various family members, including the statue of St. Theresa, currently in the rear entrance of the church, courtesy of her aunt and first cousins, Stella, June and Jimmy Repmann.  When Mrs. Linkus started to put down roots in her new home in Colonia, she became a devoted member of the St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church.  In her spare time, Mrs. Linkus enjoyed going to Atlantic City with her husband, Robert.  However, even with all her activities, the most important part of Mrs. Linkus’s life was her love and dedication to her family. She was a joy to cherish and made everyone’s day, just by being a part of their lives.

Predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Linkus in 2013, Mrs. Linkus is survived by her four daughters, Lorraine Nigro and her husband, Richard, Teresa Rivers and her companion, Nick Zayas, Maryann McGillivary and her husband Robert and Barbara Linkus and her fiancé, Ronn Weisenstein; her five grandchildren, April Gac and her husband, Jakub, Vincent Nigro, Jacqueline Depoalo and her husband, Michael, Katelyn Dorocki and her husband, Chris and Zachary Hope and her four great-grandchildren, Michael Depoalo, Vincent Depoalo, Joseph Depoalo and Broden Gac.
