Mrs. Jean P. Mazurkiewicz Mizejewski, 78, died Sunday, May 30, 2021, in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway, New Jersey.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Friday, June 4th. from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. On Monday, June 7th. at 9:45AM, family and friends will meet directly at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Linden where the funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will precede Mrs. Mizejewski’s burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.
Mrs. Mizejewski, the daughter of the late Helen Knurek Mazurkiewicz and the late John Paul Mazurkiewicz, Sr. was born in South Plainfield, New Jersey and she resided in Cranford, New Jersey for most of her life. In 1993, Mrs. Mizejewski relocated to Linden, New Jersey until 2007 when she moved to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. In 2016, Mrs. Mizejewski returned to Westfield, New Jersey for a few years and in 2020, she settled in Clark, New Jersey.
Mrs. Mizejewski began her employment career as a data entry clerk for Merck & Co. in Rahway, New Jesery. She then switched roles and took on one of the hardest jobs, that of caring for her home and more importantly, her children. In 1980, Mrs. Mizejewski re-entered the workforce, when she became a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at the Cranford Health & Extended Care Center and other facilities. She later transformed her skillset to preform office and clerical work for Gydinia Ocean Lines in South Plainfield, New Jersey for over ten years. After her retirement from full time employment, Mrs. Mizejewski, in her desire to always keep busy, took on a variety of temporary assignments from Kelly Services of Cranford and other temp agencies, as she returned to her roots doing data entry work for many companies such as Merck & Co. and Johnson & Johnson.
Mrs. Mizejewski was a member of organizations, including the 3rd. Order Carmelites of Kinnelon, New Jersey where she professed in 1999, the Polish Cultural Foundation in New York City, New York, the Polish National Alliance of Chicago, Illinois, the Polish National Home of South Plainfield, New Jersey, the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of New York and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Linden Knights of Columbus Council #2859. During the 1990’s, Mrs. Mizejewski was continually active in the Pro-Life Group in the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden.
Predeceased by her husband, Stephen R. Mizejewski in 2005 and her brother, John Mazurkiewicz, Jr. in 1977, Mrs. Mizejewski is survived by her daughter: Stephanie J. Mizejewski; her son, Stephen R. Mizejewski, Jr.; her three aunts; her one uncle; her two nephews; her two great nieces and numerous cousins, neighbors and friends.
