Mrs. Janina Zawistowska Nowicki, 98, died Sunday, March 22, 2020 in the Atrium Post Acute Care of Matawan, New Jersey.
Mrs. Nowicki, the daughter of the late Bronislawa Mierczkowska Zawistowska and the late Stanislaw Zawistowski, was born in Kosowka, Poland. She came to the United States in 1959 and she resided in Elizabeth and Linden, New Jersey for many years. In 1998, Mrs. Nowicki moved to Marlboro, New Jersey until 2018, when she relocated to Matawan, New Jersey.
Mrs. Nowicki had been a factory line worker for many years prior to her retirement in 1983.
While in Linden, she was a devoted communicant of the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus R.C. Church.
Mrs. Nowicki was predeceased by her husband, Jan Nowicki; her daughter, Christine Nowicki; her son, Joseph Nowicki; her grandsons, John Miczewski and Joseph Peixoto and her sister, Regina Pehler.
Mrs. Nowicki is survived by her daughter, Diane Apiar and her husband, Gus; her sister, Helena Jakubowski and her three grandchildren, Michelle Timins, Debbie Clemente and David J. Nowicki.
Due to the COV-19 federal and state restrictions on public gatherings, all funeral services will be private. That privacy will also extend to the prayers of committal, as well as, Mrs. Nowicki’s burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.
