Mr. Socha, the son of the late Marianna Biel Socha and the late Andrzej Socha, was born in Straszydle, Poland. He came to the United States in 1966 and he immediately settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Mr. Socha was employed in the housekeeping department of the Workmen’s Circle Nursing Home, a long-term care facility in Elizabeth for fifteen years prior to his retirement in 2000. He was known by everyone as the man who rode his bike to work every day, rain or shine.
Enjoying his retirement, Mr. Socha was always engaged in being current on politics, whether local, state, federal and even worldwide. He kept up with the events in Poland, by reading the Polish newspaper. He also liked to tinker around the house, doing things to maintain it or make it better. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends, simply talking to people and often reminiscing of stories about Poland.
Mr. Socha is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Maria Piasecka Socha; his son, Stanislaw “Stanley” Socha; his daughter, Eve “Eva” Kaluzny and her husband, Jan; his two grandchildren, Thomas Kaluzny and David Kaluzny; his brother, Antoni Socha and his sister, Teresa Tluczek.
Mr. Socha came to this country to make a better life for himself and his family. He was a success in everyone’s eyes. His family loves him beyond measure, and he will be deeply missed by all!
