Isabelle (Was) Mehalick

Mrs. Isabelle Was Mehalick, 92, died Saturday, January 18, 2020 in the Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Wednesday, January 22^nd. from 4:00-7:00PM.  The prayers of committal and her entombment in the family crypt in Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, will be private for the family only.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mrs. Mehalick’s memory to your favorite charity.

Mrs. Mehalick, the daughter of the late Rosalia Ziobro Was and the late Walenty Was, was born in Linden, New Jersey and she was truly a lifelong resident of Linden.

She was employed as a supervisor for Simmons Company, a bedding and mattress manufacturer, in Linden for fifty years before she retired in 1998.

Mrs. Mehalick was a member and past treasurer of the Linden 8^th. Ward Democratic Club.  She loved to volunteer with the senior citizens activities at the Delaire Nursing & Convalescent Center in Linden.  Mrs. Mehalick was always busy with her many activities such as bowling, reading, knitting and doing jigsaw puzzles.  A well rounded woman, she also enjoyed her sports, watching the Nets, Mets and Jets games on the television and was fortunate to go to more than a few Met games in her life.  Mrs. Mehalick was always the “life of the party”!

She was predecease by her husband, Albert “Pic” S. Mehalick on August 5, 1999 and her daughter-in-law, Janet “Lemon” M. Mehalick on October 30, 2012.  Mrs. Mehalick is survived by her two sons, Wayne Mehalick and his wife, Lucille and Allen J. Mehalick and her granddaughter, Erica N. Mehalick.
