Irene, the daughter of the late Kunegunda Bobola Kazanowski and the late Apolinary Kazanowski, was born in Newark, New Jersey. She resided in Irvington, New Jersey before settling in Mountainside, New Jersey fifty-four years ago.
Irene had a very diverse career history. A graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School, she started her own interior design studio, Irene Ann Blewis Interior Design NCIDQ. From there, she progressed to working for Chase Manhattan Bank in the finance and credit department and during that time Irene returned to school, earning her Bachelor of Arts in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Irene furthered her skills by becoming a stockbroker for Ryan Beck & Co., an investment banking and brokerage firm, followed by her employment as a financial advisor for American Express. Irene finished her career working in the same capacity for Ameriprise Financial in Parsippany and she earned her well-deserved retirement three years ago.
In her free time, Irene loved to travel with her husband, Jack, particularly international and during the fall season when the kids were back in school. The entire family had a love for snow skiing and Irene spent over fifty years going to Stowe, Vermont to fuel that passion. She also was a lover of the Jersey Shore, especially Sandy Hook where she would enjoy the salty breeze, sunshine, toes in the sand and the ocean waves. On the home front, Irene liked to cook and delighted in having the family over for a simple meal at the kitchen table or a big holiday celebration,
Predeceased by her two brothers, Stanley Kazanowski and Richard P. Kazanowski, Irene is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, John “Jack” P. Blewis; her daughter, Katharine A. Blewis and her partner, Kenneth Beitz; her sister, Stella Tylicki; her sister-in-law, Mary Buydos and her husband, Ralph; her several nieces and nephews and her friends and neighbors.
Irene was truly the center of life for her family and her smile could light up the room. Her love for her family was boundless. Irene ‘s loss will be deeply felt; she will be missed tremendously but Irene will always remain in our hearts.
