Irena Bierc Obituary

Mrs. Irena Budzinski Bierc, 83, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021, surrounded by the love of her family at the Tidewell Hospice in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. 

Family and friends are invited to the visitation which will be held in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Sunday, April 11th. from 2:00-6:00PM.  On Monday, April 12th. starting at 8:30AM everyone will gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will be held at 9:00AM, followed by the funeral mass to be offered in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus R.C. Church, Linden at 10:00AM.  The prayers of committal will precede Mrs. Bierc’s burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.    

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Irena Bierc’s memory be made to the Tidewell Hospice, 11535 Rangeland Parkway, Lakewood Ranch, Florida 34211 or online at http://www.tidewellfoundation.org/donate 

Irena Bierc, the daughter of the late Jadwiga Nowicki Budzinski and the late Wiktor Budzinski was born and raised in Poland.  She immigrated to the United States in 1964 and lived in Linden, New Jersey for fifty years before moving to Lakewood Ranch, Florida six years ago. 

Irena was employed by Elizabeth General Hospital in Elizabeth, NJ where she proudly worked in the labor and delivery housekeeping department for twenty-five years until her retirement in 1999. 

Many activities brought joy to Irena’s life including polka dancing, cooking, sewing and gardening.  She loved reading romance novels and was devoted to her Catholic faith. Her greatest love of all were her children and grandchildren. 

Irena is survived by her children, Mary Bierc Wisnowski and her husband, Walter, Andrew Bierc and his wife, Robin, Diane Bierc D’Urso, Wanda Bierc Giannobile and her husband, Mario; her sister, Christine Kukis, her brother, Waldemar Budzinski and her five grandchildren, Zachary Wisnowski, Vanessa Wisnowski, Samuel D’Urso, Holly D’Urso and Abigal Giannobile. She is predeceased by her husband Edward Bierc; granddaughter Andrea Bierc; brother Stanislaw Budzinski and sister Helen Fratesi. 

As per the regulations imposed through the State of New Jersey, there will now be a maximum of one hundred and fifty people allowed in the funeral home and the church at one time and face protection is required.  We thank you for your understanding during this time of transition.
