Mr. Herman L. Flores, Jr., 90, died Friday, April 17, 2020 at the JFK Hartwyck Estates at Edison, New Jersey.
Mr. Flores, the son of the late Gloria Flores and the late Herman J. Flores, Sr. was born in Puerto Rico. He traveled to the mainland United States in 1944 and he has resided in Edison, New Jersey for fifty-nine years.
Mr. Flores was a baker for the The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company in Newark, New Jersey producing baked goods for over twenty years prior to his retirement in 1978.
He was known in the family as the ultimate modern hermit. Mr. Flores liked nothing more than to stay at home and tend to his vegetable garden. There was no particular favorite veggie that he liked to grow, but his garden soil was so fertile, that anything Mr. Flores planted grew to amazing proportions, especially his tomatoes.
Predeceased by his wife Irma Robles Flores in 2017, Mr. Flores is survived his daughter and son-in-law, Irma Teresa Murray and Joseph Murray and his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Murray.
Due to the COV-19 federal and state restrictions on public gatherings, all funeral services will be private.
