Obituary

Mr. Henryk Bukowy, 78, entered the arms of the Lord, surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Tuesday, September 5th. from 4:00-8:00PM.  On Wednesday, September 6th. at 8:30AM, everyone will start to gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will begin at 9:00AM, followed by the funeral mass to be offered in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden at 10:00AM.  The prayers of the committal will precede Mr. Bukowy’s burial in the family plot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Linden.  Please omit flowers.  Donations for church masses for Mr. Bukowy will be greatly appreciated.

Henryk, the son of the late Jozefa (Jurasz) Bukowy and the late Wladyslaw Bukowy, was born in Przeclaw, Poland. After attending Technical School of Mechanical Engineering, he was employed by a Regional Gas Distribution company for 18 years, before moving his family to the United States. Henryk settled in Linden, NJ, where he has lived for forty-one years. He was employed by Linden Mold and Tool Corp, Rahway, for twenty-three years until his well-deserved retirement in 2010.

Henryk was a nature enthusiast which he combined with his interest of photography. Traveling was also a favorite pastime, whether it was cruising the oceans or visiting Europe. He enjoyed dancing and loved to listen to music. It was not unusual to hear music play through the house in many foreign languages. Even with all these leisurely pursuits, the greatest joy in Henryk’s life came from spending time with his family. It didn’t matter if everyone was gathering for a holiday dinner, a party celebration or simply sitting together in the backyard, enjoying the simplicity of life. Family always came first!

Henryk is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Maria (Janusz) Bukowy; his children Anna Bury and her husband Robert, Krzysztof Bukowy and his wife Malgorzata, and Elizabeth Ciarczynski; his brother Boguslaw Bukowy and his seven grandchildren, Justin Bury, Camryn Bury, Alex Bukowy, Emily Bukowy, Nicole Ciarczynski, Thomas Ciarczynski and Andrew Ciarczynski.

Henryk was a man of integrity, selflessness, and kindness. He was the center of life for his family, and he had an abundance of love for everyone in his circle. He will be deeply missed, but Henryk will never be forgotten.
