Ms. Florence E. Nemetz, 95, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Tuesday, October 18th. from 3:00-6:00PM. On Wednesday, October 19th. at 9:45AM, everyone will start to gather directly at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden where a funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM. Her burial, alongside her parents in the family plot in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, will be private.
Florence, the daughter of the late Mary Ciesluk Nemetz and the late Roman Nemetz, was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania and Florence lived in Irvington, New Jersey from 1957 until 1996, when she relocated to Linden, New Jersey.
Florence had a thirty-one-year career as a secretary for Bristol-Myers-Squibb in Hillside, New Jersey and she earned a well-deserved retirement in 1988.
Florence filled her spare time by being very involved in the various church communities. She was a lector and an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion for over twenty years for St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Irvington, followed by ten years engaging in the same capacity for St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden. Florence was very dedicated to her faith and her church. She was a constant volunteer for the various church activities, whether it was making pierogi’s, working the church picnic, or lending a hand wherever needed.
Florence is survived by her brother, John Nemetz; her sister Joan Norcross; her six nieces and nephews and she was very proud to be a Godmother seven times.
Florence was the epitome of being a lady. She was well dressed, color coordinated, usually in bright colors accented by the right choice of jewelry, shoes, and a purse; her hair was done, and her makeup was always perfection. In fact, Florence would never even leave the house without her makeup on and her hair styled. Florence would always greet everyone with a smile and inquire how their family or perhaps mutual friends were. She never put the emphasis on herself, she was very considerate of you and how you were doing. Florence had grace, elegance, and manners to a tee!
Because Florence was such a special lady, we will always keep her in our hearts and our prayers. May God bless and keep our newest angel, Florence, in the palm of His hands.
