Elsa Gualdarrama Obituary

Mrs. Elsa Hernandez Gualdarrama, 74, died Monday, April 26, 2021 in the Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Friday, May 7th. from 4:00PM to 8:00PM.  On Saturday, May 8th., the funeral services followed by the committal service and internment in the family plot will be private for the family only.

Mrs. Gualdarrama, the daughter of the late Maria Isabel Laboy Hernandez and the late Juan Hernandez, was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico.  She came to the mainland United States in 1962 and she has resided in Irvington, New Jersey since 1971.

Mrs., Gualdarrama spent her free time watching television, most notably anything Spanish, included her beloved novellas and major league baseball games.  Her favorite team was the NY Mets.  Mrs. Gualdarrama’s cooking was exceptional to the point, where no one in the family could match her expertise in taste, flavors and preparing favorite dishes.  She would be cooking up a storm, whether it was a simple evening meal or a holiday extravaganza.  No one ever left Mrs. Gualdarrama’s home without enjoying her treats and if asked, she would freely share her recipes.  Mrs. Gualdarrama’s pure joy in life came from spending time with her family and doing anything she could for them.  She was loved beyond measure by her family and her friends.

Mrs. Gualdarrama was predeceased by her husband, Braulio Gualdarrama (November 20, 2016); her brother, Jose Hernandez and her two sisters, Maria del Carmen “Tite” Ayada and Margarita Velez.

Mrs. Gualdarrama is survived by her son, Juan Gualdarrama and his wife, Daphne Lindor; her daughter, Maria Roman and her husband, Marcos Roman, Sr.; her brother, Juan Hernandez; her two sisters, Juana Santiago, and Maria Fore; her three grandchildren, Jacqueline Roman, Marcos Roman, Jr. and Brittani Roman; her three great grandchildren, Jaiden Joseph, Maison Rodriguez and Lukas Roman and numerous nieces and nephews.
