Bette, the daughter of the late Roseann and Joseph Hopkins was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  She resided in Linden from 2001 to 2015 when she moved to Cranford and then in November of 2022, Bette settled in Clark, New Jersey.

She had a twenty-five-year career as a legal secretary for Posnock & Zitomer, Esquires in Linden and she earned her well-deserved retirement in 1998.

Throughout her life, Bette was an animal lover, especially dogs.  A few of her personal fur babies were “Bea” the Beagle and most recently “Lily” the Pomeranian.  Even as a working Mom, Bette loved to cook and bake and would share her delicacies with family, friends and neighbors.  In her down time, she enjoyed watching the television, especially game shows & of course, any episode of the Animal Planet and the famous dog shows - Westminster Dog Show and the National Dog Show.

Predeceased by her husband, Patrick J. O’Grady, Jr. (1988); her daughter, Erin Eileen O’Grady (1999) and her brother, John Hopkins, Better is survived by her son, Patrick J. O’Grady III and his wife, Renee; her daughter, Colleen C. Kuntz and her husband, Larry; her brother, Joseph Hopkins; her sister, Roseann Alessi and her two adoring granddaughters, Makenzie Catherine Kuntz and Mallory Elizabeth Kuntz.

Bette was a wonderful woman who had the gift of putting anyone at ease the moment you met her.  Her smile that lit up her eyes, her caring soul, her extreme kindness and her loving heart made Bette one in a million and we were all very fortunate to have her in our lives.  Bette was the center of life for her family.  We will miss her dearly, but Bette’s love will always remain in our hearts.
