On Thursday, May 16th. at 9:45AM everyone will gather directly at St. Joseph the Carpenter Roman Catholic Church in Roselle, where a mass will be offered at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will precede Eddy’s burial in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. Please Omit flowers! Donations are respectfully requested for the family to help Eddy’s two young children.
Eddy, the son of the late Elza Monpoint and the late Gesner Carrelus, was born in Delmas, Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. He came to the United States in 1977 and Eddy lived in New York City for a few years, before spending most of the time throughout Essex County. He then moved to Hillside for six years, before settling in Roselle five years ago.
Eddy was a phlebotomist for Enzo Clinical Labs in Parsippany for several years.
One of Eddy’s pastimes was cooking; he simply loved to cook! Eddy would often tell his kids about the experiences he had when he worked as a chef in a variety of restaurants. Over the years and with a lot of practice, Eddy learned how to make some delicious dishes. Anytime one of his kids requested a special meal, especially with seafood, Eddy jumped at the opportunity to make it for them. The meal made his kids happy but cooking it for them made Eddy happy, as well. Eddy enjoyed watching Family Feud with his family and he would often joke that he & his family would be on that show one day. He was very much a hands-on guy, working on his cars and in the process, Eddy taught his kids about cars. He would always remind his kids how much he loved them to “infinity and beyond”. Eddy was a family man, and he was loved by many. He was well known, and Eddy was always the heart of every and any party, laughing and telling jokes with family and friends.
Eddy is survived by his wife, Judith Estiverne; his four children, Cassandra Carelus, JulieAnn Carelus, Farah Carelus and Alexander Eddy Carelus; his granddaughter, Lauren Carelus and his many neighbors, co-workers and friends.
Eddy was the center of life for his family, and he had an abundance of love for everyone in his circle. He will be deeply missed, but Eddy will never be forgotten.
